Belle Ridge Neighborhood Watch
Why is Neighborhood Watch Important?
Given that law enforcement agencies cannot maintain a constant presence everywhere, they depend on public support to prevent
and resolve crimes. The majority of neighborhood crime is opportunistic and can be mitigated through basic crime prevention methods, such as neighborhood watch programs.
Our Neighborhood Watch initiative requires your engagement and participation in a collaborative effort to deter crime within our community....
Why does Belle Ridge HOA have a Neighborhood Watch?
Belle Ridge is known for its safety, and our goal is to maintain this reputation. To be proactive in preventing any potential crimes, we're introducing a neighborhood watch program. With the installation of Neighborhood Watch signs, we rely on everyone in Belle Ridge to engage by familiarizing themselves with the guidelines below and staying vigilant about activities within our community.
What You Need to Do...
- Get to know your neighbors and become familiar with their routines. Remember, this is a partnership.
- Look after your neighbor's house when they are away. Ask them to look after yours.
- Be suspicious. Report unusual or suspicious behavior to the police.
- Write down the descriptions of people or vehicles. License numbers are important.
What to Look For...
- Someone screaming or shouting for help
- Someone looking into windows and parked cars
- Unusual noises
- Property being taken out of houses
- Vehicles moving slowly with no apparent destination, or without lights
- Someone being forced into a vehicle
- A stranger sitting in a car or stopping to talk to a child
- Abandoned vehicles
How to Report Something...
Do NOT try to apprehend a person engaged in criminal activity or investigate suspicious behavior. Instead, promptly contact the police department. Don't hesitate or worry about potential embarrassment if your suspicions turn out to be unfounded. Law enforcement prefers to investigate potential issues rather than be called too late.
